North Wildwood Police Department Promotes One, Hires Two

NORTH WILDWOOD – A Police Department officer who has been promoted to sergeant and two newly hired patrolmen received their badges at the Tuesday, Jan. 16, City Council meeting.

Lifelong North Wildwood resident and 13-year officer Patrick Flynn was sworn in as sergeant.

Flynn graduated from Margaret Mace Elementary School in 2003 and Wildwood Catholic High School in 2007. He worked as a Class II Officer in Wildwood Crest from 2008 to 2010, when, according to Mayor Patrick Rosenello, he “returned home,” being hired by the city Police Department.

Flynn served as a seasonal sergeant of the boardwalk and bar squad during the summers of 2018 and 2023. He has served as North Wildwood PBA representative.

His sergeant’s badge was pinned on him by his brother, city Police Sgt. James Flynn. His mother, Loreen Flynn, held the Bible for his swearing-in.

Jared Cruz was sworn in as a full-time officer. He was born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn. He graduated from Eastside High School in Paterson and began working as a Class II Officer in North Wildwood in 2023.

Cruz’s wife, Daniela Viviana Cruz, held the Bible before pinning on his badge, while his son, Matthew Rigoberto Cruz, looked on.

The second new full-time patrolman, Alexander D’Attilio, was born and raised in Somers Point and graduated from Cedar Creek High School. He worked as a Class II Officer in North Wildwood in 2023.

His father, Thomas D’Attilio, pinned on his badge, and his mother, Nicole D’Attilio, held the Bible.
