You’d better watch out! Author pens holiday book

By On Deck Staff

Local author’s new book tells the story of Santa’s elf who goes out after Christmas to take back all the gifts from bad kids just pretending to be good.
Independent filmmaker and film festival director, Tom Sims, has expressed a sentiment that nearly every parent has felt a few days after Christmas; those days when your kids might be falling back into familiar and unwanted patterns now that they’ve received their coveted holiday gift.
The Repossession Elves!
Some parents might be ashamed to admit that they have actually thought about threatening their kids with this far-fetched (but very practical) possibility. And maybe some parents just aren’t diabolical enough to conjure up such a threat (but maybe they wish they had).
Finally, there’s a holiday story for those kids who only pretend to be sugar and spice to get their favorite holiday present.
“Repo Elf” tells the story of Honcho, the leader of Santa’s special team that goes out after Christmas to take back toys from kids only playing nice to get what they want.
The problem is, kids believe in Santa much later in life, and the North Pole simply cannot keep up with production.
What’s the only solution they can actually run with: Santa’s Repossession Force.
The team identifies children who were only pretending to be nice (otherwise known as “naughty to nice list hackers”), and then it makes plans to takes back the gift.
Representatives of Universal Studios and Twentieth Century Fox are reviewing the book, as well as Tom Hanks’ company and other producers.
Tom H. Sims is an independent filmmaker whose work has appeared in film festivals across the country and at Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner. He is the Executive Director of the NJ State Film Festival at Cape May.
Sims will hold a book signing on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1-3 p.m., at Atlantic Books on Decatur and Washington Street Mall.
