Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center has announced that it will offer free admission to the Museum of American Glass during its winter operating schedule in January, February, and March.
The organization is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning Jan. 9. This schedule continues through March 29.
The Museum of American Glass has the most comprehensive collection of American Glass in the world from the first glass bottles made in America to celebrated works by world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly and other contemporary artists who work in glass.
Over 7,000 objects are on display.
The museum will feature the annual “Curator’s Choice” exhibit in the Special Exhibition Gallery Jan. 16 through March 31. The museum curator selects pieces from the collection not often seen by the public and new pieces obtained in 2008.
The exhibit, “Treasures From The Collection: Museum of American Glass,” can be seen in the major exhibition area.
In addition, WheatonArts will offer “Winter Weekends,” a series of classes, demonstrations, and interactive activities for children and their families beginning Jan. 17 and continuing every Saturday and Sunday through March 22.
■ “Nature Craft Series,” Saturdays, Jan. 17 through March 21, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
■ Selected Hands-On Activities, Saturdays and Sundays, Jan. 17 through March 22, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The following “fee-based” workshops begin at 2 p.m. and last 45 minutes to an hour in length.
Class sizes are limited. No pre-registration. Member discounts do not apply for these workshops.

The museum stores are also open during January, February, and March from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is free to shop and stroll.
The Glass Studio, Pottery and Flameworking Studios and the Down Jersey Folklife Center are closed during these three months. They will reopen April 1 when WheatonArts returns to its six-day operating schedule.
