COURT HOUSE – Six Webelos Scouts from Pack 65, Court House ceremonially crossed the bridge into Boy Scout Troop 65 Feb. 12.
The event took place at Cub Scout Pack 65’s annual Blue and Gold and Arrow of Light ceremonies at the Family Worship Center of the First United Methodist Church.
Having received their new neckerchiefs, shoulder patches and green caps, Aidan Crowding, Jeffrey Tzorfas, Joshua Snow, Matthew Sides, Quinn Mills, and William Hawes were welcomed by Boy Scouts of the troop.
Sen. Jeff Van Drew and Assemblyman Robert Andrzejczak (both D-1st) presented New Jersey Legislature resolutions to the new scouts.
Freeholders Jeffrey Pierson and E. Marie Hayes congratulated them and also conveyed greetings from U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-2nd).
Middle Township Mayor Michael Clark wore two hats. As mayor, he lauded the scouts’ achievements, and as a member of Middle Township Fire Company Number One, which sponsors the pack, accepted the charter for the 57th year from Bill Wasekanes, senior district executive director, BaySea District, Garden State Council. Accepting the charter with him was Sandi Maund, the committee chairperson.
Members of each den, from Webelos, the most senior, to Lions, the youngest, received awards and recognition from their leaders.
At the outset of the evening, it was noted that Feb. 8, 1910, was when the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated by William Boyce, who was impressed with the youth program begun by Lord Robert Baden-Powell in England.
