That will be a historic day in Cape May County newspaper history, since it will be the first time a column written especially for and about Hispanic readers will regularly appear.
Cecilia, a teacher’s aide at Woodbine Elementary School for the past four years, was for 10 years, center manager and group teacher for Atlantic Human Resources Head Start Program.
She enjoys teaching and technology, and reaches out to young people to enrich them with her knowledge and special skills.
Keenly interested in technology and its many opportunities offered via the Internet, Cecilia is working toward a bachelor degree in technology from American InterContinental University in an on-line capacity.
“I have gotten to like it more and more,” she said of her studies.
A member of the First Spanish Church of God, Vineland, she has been a four-year volunteer for the Boys and Girls Homework Club of Woodbine.
As such, she stays after school to assist youngsters with their homework.
She is also a member of the A.V.I.D. Program, an after-school project aimed at pupils in fifth through eighth grades with their homework.
Married, she has two daughters, Michelle, who graduated from the county Technical High School, and Melissa, a senior at Tech, who plans to attend Kutztown University of Pennsylvania to become a secondary school teacher.
She also has a grandson.
Readers who would like to submit news for inclusion in Cecilia’s Spanish language column may leave a message on her phone: 609-861-3072.
Such news items should be made at least two weeks in advance of publication.
