Tourists Donate to Cape May Sandy Victims

CAPE MAY – Three dozen tourists from Marion, Va. came ready for a full day of touring in the nation’s first seaside resort, Victorian Cape May, on Sun. morning, Dec. 2, and brought with them hundreds of dollars in donations destined for local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Group Tour Manager Sue Gibson met the bus on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., where she helped unload four bags of food and cleaning supplies destined for the Community Food Closet of Cape May, with help from Tammy Schuler, the group escort. Gibson also accepted cash donations totaling $190 to go toward the Sandy Relief Fund and $275 in gift cards destined for The Lunch With Lynch (LWL) Foundation.
The Sandy Relief Fund was established to help students of Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC), many of whom lost clothes, books, supplies, homes or transportation due to Hurricane Sandy. The Lunch With Lynch Foundation, in partnership with the Cape May County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7 and the Wildwood Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) #50, has been providing activities and positive reinforcement to Wildwoods school children for over six years, and in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, organized a food, clothing and relief drive for Cape May County hurricane victims.
