COURT HOUSE — From Cape May County Emergency Management Office:
A coastal flood warning and high surf advisory remain in effect until 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. Additionally, a high wind warning is also in effect until 6 a.m. Friday.
With high pressure to the north and low pressure to the south, a strong and persistent northeast flow is expected along the coast of New Jersey this weekend. As a result, tidal departures will continue to increase. widespread minor tidal flooding is expected for today, with spotty moderate flooding in extreme southern New Jersey. for tonight into Friday, widespread moderate tidal flooding is expected.
The high surf will worsen any tidal flooding and it will result in moderate to severe beach erosion. Rainfall will also compound the tidal flooding.
This afternoon, high tide is at 4:16 p.m. with a forecast height around 7.5 feet mean low water. For Friday morning, the high tide is at 4:55 a.m. with a forecast height approaching 8.5 feet mean low water. Friday afternoon’s high tide is at 5:11 pm.
EARLIER TODAY:
SWAINTON – Due to increasing severe weather, the Cape May County Zoo will be closed Thursday, Nov. 12. Due to the strong winds, most zoo animals have been locked indoors for their safety, according to a county release.
Additionally, for the safety of visitors, park central and park north will also be closed due to high winds and the possibility of fallen branches. Park east and park south will remain open.
The Cape May County Zoo is at 707 Route 9 North in Court House.
The free Zoo is open, weather permitting, 364 days a year – closed on Christmas Day.
