Storm Cancellations, Closings and Delays for Jan. 4

Below are cancellations, closings and delays reported to the Cape May County Herald:  
BANKS:
– All Sturdy Savings Bank locations will be closed Jan. 4. 
– All Crest Savings Bank locations are closed Jan. 4.​
– All branches of 1st Bank of Sea Isle City will be closed Jan. 4.
COURTS: 
– All state courts and court offices are now closed Jan. 4, including Superior, Tax, Appellate, Supreme Court, clerks’ offices and AOC.
GOVERNMENT:
– Cape May-Lewes Ferry (CMLF) officials announced that ferry operations have been suspended for Jan. 4.  
Fare Free Transportation has cancelled service for all areas of Cape May County Jan. 4. The Fare Free Transportation cancellation of services will include all shopping trips and transportation to the Diagnostic Center. 
NOTE:  Fare Free Transportation services will continue to provide transportation for dialysis patients and Meals on Wheels deliveries will remain on schedule.
– The Department of Aging and Disability Services has announced, all four Senior Centers – Ocean City, Upper Township, Lower Township and North Wildwood will be closed Jan. 4. 
– The Cape May County Parks and Zoo will be closed Jan. 4. Check their website for hours Jan. 5: www.cmczoo.com.
All other Cape May County services and offices will remain open to the public.  
Borough of Stone Harbor has announced a delayed opening due to expected weather conditions Jan. 4. Borough Hall will open at noon.
West Cape May Municipal Building will be closed Jan. 4.
 
Dennis Township municipal building will be closed Jan. 4, and will reopen Jan. 5.
 
– Veterans Affairs (VA) Cape May County Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Cape May will be closed Jan. 4.
 
– All Cape May City Recreation programs are cancelled Jan. 4, including Pelican Place Preschool, fitness classes at Franklin Street and pool classes and lessons at Cape May City Elementary School.
 
– Wildwood Crest Borough Hall and the Joseph Von Savage Memorial Pool are both closed Jan. 4. The Wildwood Crest Pier Recreation Center is closed until at least noon. Further information about the afternoon/evening status of the Crest Pier Recreation Center will be announced later this morning.
 
– Due to the severe winter storm, the State of New Jersey has authorized the closing of state offices Jan. 4 for all non-essential employees. Essential employees should report to work on their regular schedule. Gov. Chris Christie is declaring a state of emergency for Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean counties.
 
Lower Township Town Hall will be closed Jan. 4, and trash and recycling will not be picked up as per schedule. In the event of power outages, the Lower Township Recreation Center will be used in emergencies as a warming center. All non-essential vehicles should be kept off the highways in Lower Township as blizzard conditions have made travel and outside exposure very dangerous. Lower Township officials ask residents to check on their senior friends and neighbors, and don’t leave pets outside for an extended period of time. 
 
– Due to the state of emergency declaration, all departments of Middle Township Township Hall will be closed Jan. 4. This includes the cancellation of all municipal court cases scheduled for Jan. 4. Additionally, only go out on the roadways if absolutely necessary. Road conditions are extremely poor at this time. This will allow road departments to clear the roadways safely. 
 
– All municipal buildings in Avalon are closed Jan. 4, including Borough Hall, Community Hall, the Avalon Free Public Library, and the Avalon History Center. At 9 a.m., Avalon police closed the road leading to the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge as a result of the storm; it will be reopened when it is safe to do so. Avalon trash/recycling collection that was Wednesday’s collection, delayed by a day until Thursday due to the New Year’s holiday, will be collected Jan. 5.
 
– Effective immediately, an emergency proclamation has been declared by the City of Wildwood, and only emergency vehicles are permitted to be on city roadways. Emergency proclamations have also been declared by West Cape May and Wildwood Crest.  
 
Cape May County 2018 reorganization scheduled for Jan. 4 at 5 p.m. has been canceled. The rescheduled date has not been determined, but the public will be updated when that information becomes available. 
Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton, who oversees the Office of Emergency Management, advises residents to stay off the roads to allow the Public Works crews access to clear the snow. Those who have to be out in this storm are urged to use extreme caution. 
– U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of New Jersey, is closed Jan. 4.
OTHER:
 
– Cape Counseling Services will be closed Jan. 4  Their crisis line is available at 609-465-5999. They will reopen tomorrow morning, Jan. 5.
 
C.A.R.A. (The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse) will be closed Jan. 4 due to the weather. They can be reached on their 24-hour Hotline at 609-522-6489 or 1-877-294-2272.  
 
Families Matter, LLC will be closed for all services Jan. 4.
SCHOOLS: 
All three campuses of Atlantic Cape Community College will be closed Jan. 4. As the storm progresses, the college will make a further determination regarding a Fri., Jan. 5 opening and advise accordingly.
– Cape Christian Academy will be closed Jan. 4.
Cape May City School District will be closed Jan. 4.
– Cape May County Special Services School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Cape May County Technical School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Cape Trinity Catholic School will be closed Jan. 4.
– The Children’s Country Place will be closed Jan. 4.
The Children’s Place of Music and Learning will be closed Jan. 4.
Dennis Township School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Lower Cape May Regional School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Lower Township Elementary School District will be closed Jan. 4.
– Middle Township School District will be closed Jan. 4.
North Wildwood City School District will be closed Jan. 4.
– Ocean City School District will be closed Jan. 4.
– Tomorrow’s World Early Education Center will be closed Jan. 4.
Upper Township School District will be closed Jan. 4.
West Cape May School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Wildwood Catholic High School will be closed Jan. 4.
– Wildwood City School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Wildwood Crest School District will be closed Jan. 4.
Woodbine School District will be closed Jan. 4.
