Severe Thunderstorms Expected in Region

COURT HOUSE – National Weather Service in Mount Holly (NWS) issued its latest briefing concerning the potential for severe thunderstorms March 1, according to a post on its Facebook page.     
According to the briefing, severe thunderstorms may produce damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes March 1.
Isolated thunderstorms may develop during the late morning or early afternoon March 1. The primary threats with these storms will be damaging winds and hail. There is a potential for one or two organized lines of strong to severe thunderstorms to move through the region during the mid to late afternoon (3-6 p.m.) and/or the evening (6-11 p.m.) March 1. Isolated tornadoes are also possible.
Likely hazards, according to NWS:
Severe Thunderstorms – The biggest threats will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, large hail greater than or equal to 1 inch in diameter, and cloud-to-ground lightning. Isolated tornadoes and poor drainage flooding are also possible.
