SEA ISLE CITY – The Sea Isle City Police Department has relayed an Oct. 9 advisory from the National Weather Service in Mount Holly regarding a Coastal Flood Watch, which is in effect from the afternoon of Oct. 10 to the evening of Oct. 11.
* TIMING…For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 4 p.m. this afternoon to 11 a.m. EDT Oct. 10. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS…One to two feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
* AFFECTED AREAS: ATLANTIC … CAPE MAY … ATLANTIC COASTAL CAPE MAY … COASTAL ATLANTIC
Instructions:
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.
Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through floodwaters.
The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs. Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at water.weather.gov/ahps for additional water level and flood impact information for your local tide gauge.
A Coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop. Be prepared to begin taking appropriate action to protect life and property.
