The National Hurricane Center has downgraded Hurricane Sandy to a post-tropical cyclone status as it makes its way into western Pennsylvania.
Sandy, which was a hurricane as it made landfall on the Jersey coast, brought high winds, copious amounts of rain and flooding. Tides were adversely affected by both the storm as well as astronomical high tides.
The now post-tropical cyclone has sustained winds of 65 mph and is moving west/northwest at 15 mph.
High wind warnings remain in effect throughout the area, including gale force winds over coastal waters. Storm warning are in effect for portions of the mid-Atlantic coastal waters.
Flood and flash flood watches and warnings remain in effect over portions of the mid-Atlantic and northeastern states.
