COURT HOUSE — Middle Township is now under a State of Emergency in preparation for Hurricane Sandy. The township will experience damaging sustained winds up to or exceeding hurricane strength over a 24 to 48 hour period along with heavy rains. Tidal flooding is expected and may reach 8ft to 10ft above normal levels.
The following areas of the Township are under mandatory evacuation effective Sunday morning 9 a.m. All areas East of the Garden State Parkway, including but not limited to Stone Harbor Manor, Avalon Manor, Benny’s Landing, and Grassy Sounds. In addition, all Delaware Bayside communities including but not limited to Goshen Landing, Reeds Beach, Cooks Beach, Kimbles Beach, Pierces Point, Highs Beach, Gus’s Beach. Also, Del Haven and Sunray Beach west of Bayshore Road are mandatory evacuation.
Residents not evacuating should be prepared for power outages for an extended period of time and plan accordingly with food, water and other miscellaneous supplies.
