Lower Police Warn Residents of Impending Storm

By Herald Staff

LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
ERMA — The Lower Township Police Department in conjunction with the Lower Township Office of Emergency Management is tracking a storm system that will be affecting our area from Friday evening through Sunday morning.
Wide spread rain fall amounts of two (2) to four (4) inches are anticipated with this storm, with local amounts of up to five (5) inches possible.
If you live in an area that is prone to flooding from high tides or poor drainage, be prepared to move your vehicles to higher ground from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.
Residents with basements should move valuable items or any equipment that may pose a fire hazard, to a higher level.
High winds are also expected with this storm and residents should be prepared for possible power outages from downed trees or branches.
As the water table in Lower Township and through out Cape May County is already high, yards and roads will flood quickly with the heavy rain that is expected.
Please drive carefully, as our roads will become treacherous during the heavy rain.
If you require Police, Fire or Rescue Services during this storm event, please call 9-1-1 for assistance.
