COURT HOUSE – Get those telescopes ready. A full moon, partial lunar eclipse, and comet are expected this weekend, NBC 10 reports.
The partial lunar eclipse will take place tonight, Feb. 10. It will begin at 5:32 p.m. EST and last more than four hours.
Only part of the moon will be shaded, as opposed to the moon being fully blacked out like in a full eclipse. Meteorologists say it will be difficult to see with the naked eye or even with binoculars.
Comet 45P, which comes around every five years, will be visible in the constellation Hercules early Saturday morning, Feb. 11. It will be a close encounter, passing within 7.7 million miles (12.4 million kilometers) of Earth. It will be difficult to see if you are not in a dark area.
The Slooh network of observatories will provide a live broadcast from the Canary Islands for both events, the report continued.
