COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is preparing for the upcoming storm expected to move into the area tonight, March 13 and Tuesday, March 14. OEM Director Martin Pagliughi reported the following:
“We are anticipating high winds and flooding in Cape May County.
“We are opening a limited activation of our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) tomorrow, March 14 at 6 a.m. Atlantic City Electric (ACE) personnel will be stationed with us during the storm.
“County high wheel vehicles are positioned and ready to be deployed if requested by the municipalities.
“Municipalities will do their reverse 911 calls regarding the flooding tonight, March 13 and in the morning, March 14.
“Municipal and county shelters are on stand-by in the event of prolonged power failures.
“We will be in direct contact with the State Emergency Operations Center, National Weather Office, Mt Holly and the NJSP-ROIC during the storm.
“Emergency weather alerts and updates will be posted on the county’s OEM website as they come in.”
County Engineer, Dale Foster, reported that Public Works is prepared for the upcoming weather event.
All 28 county bridges have been salted in preparation for the storm.
Thirteen salt trucks are ready and filled with salt. An additional four are available for salting and plowing if necessary.
