There will be a considerable increased risk of dangerous RIP currents and slowly building surf today into Monday. They should peak on Sunday and Monday.
Southeast swells of 4 to 5 feet were affecting much of the New Jersey and Delaware Atlantic coastal waters. These should build to around 8 feet by Sunday and Monday before rapidly subsiding next Tuesday. A Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 7AM to 10PM Saturday. This advisory is specifically for rip current dangers associated with the slowly building incoming swell from Hurricane Igor. The forecast risk of dangerous rip currents will be bordering on high Saturday. Thereafter for Sunday and Monday rip current risk will more than likely be very high. Future forecasts may upgrade to a high surf advisory for Sunday into Monday if and when eight foot swells are a near 100 percent certainty.
