MOUNT HOLLY – The National Weather Service has issued a tropical storm warning for Cape May County, in preparation for Tropical Storm Elsa.
The strongest winds should occur overnight July 8 into the morning July 9. The latest forecasts predict below tropical force winds, between 10-20 mph, with gusts over 40 mph possible. Residents should prepare for potential wind damage. There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding. Rough surf, coastal erosion, and life-threatening rip currents are possible.
A flash flood watch remains in effect. Rainfall may be between 1-3 inches, with locally higher levels possible.
A few isolated tornadoes are also possible with this storm.
