GRASSY SOUND – Cleanup efforts have begun on the Grassy Sound house that collapsed into Grassy Sound Channel during the nor’easter-like storm Oct. 3, according to NJ.com.
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) awarded the debris removal contract to Crowder Gulf, according to department spokesman Bob Considine.
Workers have been removing debris this week.
The cleanup effort is estimated to cost between $150,000 and $200,000, but the exact amount is unknown until after the cleanup has been completed.
According to NJ.com, NJDEP is funding the work for now and will work out reimbursement with homeowner Stuart Tait at a later date.
