By Press Release

MAYS LANDING – Atlantic City Electric established Estimated Times of Restoration (ETRs) this morning for all customers affected by winter storm Jonas. Approximately, 18,000 Atlantic City Electric customers remain without power. Sustained winds and coastal flooding have hampered restoration efforts on the barrier islands but conditions are expected to improve throughout the day.

There is major coastal flooding in Avalon, Margate, Tuckerton Beach, Beach Haven West, Sea Isle City, North Wildwood, Ocean City and Stone Harbor. Coastal flooding is preventing our crews from accessing these areas for restoration. Our crews will access these areas and begin restoration as the conditions permit.
For customers on the eastern coast of Atlantic Region (Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May County), ETRs indicating when the last customer is expected to have power restored, were provided this morning by phone, online and through our mobile app. While the global time indicates when the last customer will have power, many customers will have power back prior to that time. Crews will continue to work around the clock until everyone’s power is restored.
All Atlantic City Electric employees have a second role during emergencies and will participate in the restoration effort. Mutual assistance personnel from other utilities have also been enlisted to assist in the restoration process.
Atlantic City Electric will prioritize its restoration effort by first addressing damage to its critical electric infrastructure including transmission lines and substation equipment, as well as hospitals, fire and police stations, water filtration plants. Next, crews repair main distribution lines that serve the largest number of customers, followed by single customers in rural areas.
The safety of our customers and crews is paramount. Customers are urged to avoid working crews and to stay away from all downed wires, even if they don’t appear to be energized.

All outages and downed wires should be reported to 1‐800‐833‐7476, through www.atlanticcityelectric.comor through the mobile app, available for downloading at atlanticcityelectric.com/mobileapp. Customers should request a call back to verify their power has been restored.
Safety Tips

  • Stay away from downed wires. Call 1‐800‐833‐7476 and follow the prompts to report a downed wire or an outage.
  • Avoid crews working in the street. This will keep you and the crews safe, and allow them to work on restoring your power.
  • Tune in to local news broadcasts for the latest weather and emergency information.
  • Follow the advice of your local emergency management officials.
  • Take cover if necessary.
