MAYS LANDING – Atlantic City Electric has restored electric service to the vast majority of customers affected by this weekend’s Winter Storm Jonas, which pounded the region with significant snowfall, major coastal flooding, driving winds and blizzard like conditions. The company expects power to be restored to all customers who can safely accept power later today.
By early today, crews had restored service to more than 130,000 customers who had lost power during the storm. The hardest hit areas were in Avalon, Margate, Tuckerton Beach, Beach Haven West, Sea Isle City, North Wildwood, Ocean City and Stone Harbor. Tree and line crews worked as safely and quickly as possible in challenging conditions.
“We want to thank our public officials and our emergency service partners, who braved the weather and took time away from their families to fulfill this critical public service,” said Vince Maione, president, Atlantic Region. “We appreciate and thank our customers for their patience during the restoration. High winds, poor visibility and flooding in coastal areas made the job difficult but our crews were focused and committed.”
Customers returning home, who may have evacuated, are reminded that if they’re still out of service, they should report it to Atlantic City Electric by calling 1-800-833-7476, or visiting www.atlanticcityelectric.com or through our mobile app, available for download at www.atlanticcityelectric.com/mobileapp.
