Vietnam Memorial Wall Closed; Panels Need Repair

Wildwood’s Vietnam Memorial Wall is closed after corrosion endangered 10 panels. Repairs are pending.

By Taylor Henry

WILDWOOD – Yellow barricades have blocked access to the Wildwoods Vietnam Memorial Wall since July 25. It was discovered that at least 10 panels bearing the names of Americans who died in the Vietnam War were loose and in danger of falling.
Damage was caused by corrosion from the barrier island climate, according to Vincent DePrinzio, president of the county Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) chapter.
DePrinzio said the tile company that installed the memorial eight years ago is expected to repair the panels within a week if its schedule allows. DePrinzio doesn’t know how much repair will cost, but said the VVA is accepting donations at P.O. Box 481, Wildwood, N.J. 08260.
