US Army Corp Dredging of NJ Intracoastal Waterway and Beneficial Use Project Begins

STONE HARBOR — Barnegat Bay Dredging Company is under contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to dredge shoals within the NJ Intracoastal Waterway (NJIWW). On Feb. 17, 2018, the Dredge Fullerton arrived in the Stone Harbor/Middle Township vicinity to dredge the NJIWW near Markers 419 to 421. Dredging operations with sand placement on the Ring Island nesting bird habitat will be conducted for approximately one week.
The Wetlands Institute is working to monitor site conditions and habitat usage. Expected departure of the contractor from the site will be during the first week in March depending on project operations.
