Upper Township 3.1.2006

By Rick Racela

It is going to be spring before we know it, thank goodness.
Unfortunately, that means it is also going to be April 15 before we know it!
For those of you who are elderly and low income, AARP provides free tax counseling at the Main Branch of the Cape May County Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday from now through April 11.
Get help with your 2005 tax return sooner rather than later.
My mom always leaves her taxes until April 13 or 14, but I like to get them done nice and early so I can beat the rush at the Post Office.
***
The coming of spring means more than taxes, of course.
It is also time to think about gardening.
The Acorn Garden Club will host its annual auction on March 8 at 8 p.m. in the meeting room at the Upper Township Library.
There will be plenty of refreshments and everyone is invited.
Come support this wonderful cause!

In other Upper Township Library event news, the book club for third and fourth graders is going strong.
The club meets this Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. to discuss “Jake Drake, Bully Buster” by Andrew Clements.
The next meeting is April 3, when Geronimo Stilton’s “Watch Your Whiskers, Stilton” is the featured book.
In addition to the discussion, participants will do a craft project and enjoy refreshments.
To take part, please register at the circulation desk, where you can borrow a copy of the book.
For additional information please call 628-2607.
For the younger library crowd, I recommend preschool story time.
Visit the Upper Library with your young children on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
It is the perfect way to introduce your children to the library.
Remember, I need two weeks’ notice to include your events in this column.
I want to hear about any and all concerts, fundraisers, spaghetti dinners, dances, you name it!
Leave a message for me at 898-8825 or send an email to herald.events@gmail.com.
In the meantime, have a fabulous week Upper Township!
