I have just a few bits of news for you this week, all of it from the Ocean City Arts Center (OCAC).
First, don’t forget that tonight is the “Empty Bowls” benefit I mentioned last week.
Head over to the center, which is located at 1735 Simpson Ave., from 6-8 p.m. Donate $15 and you’ll have your choice of delicious desserts served in a beautiful bowl, which is yours to keep.
Proceeds benefit the OCAC Pottery Studio and Habitat for Humanity.

Friday from 7-9 p.m., the OCAC invites the public to an awards reception for its 26th annual juried photography show.
This year’s show is one of the largest ever, with 218 entries from local shutterbugs. This year a special guest judge, Harvey Stein, helped choose the best photos.
Harvey is a New York-based photographer who teaches at the International Center of Photography, Parsons School of Design and Drew University.
His photographs have been published in major magazines, exhibited throughout the world and are part of thirty major collections such as: the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the International Center of Photography.
He has also published several books including “Parallels: A Look at Twins,” “Artists Observed” and “Coney Island.”
At the awards ceremony, the top eight photographers will be honored. Admission is free and there will be light refreshments.
If you can’t be there Friday, don’t worry because the top 50 photos will remain on display through April 29.

In addition to these special events, OCAC invites you to register for its spring classes, which include watercolor, oils, pastels, folk art, cartooning.
Also stained glass, pottery, mosaics, sculpture, basket weaving, dance, writing, photography, piano, harp, guitar and drum lessons, and so much more.
There are weekly classes and one-day workshops as well as a variety of children’s programs.
Visit www.oceancity artscenter.org to see a full schedule, or call 399-7628 for more information.

The folks at OCAC are certainly busy. I hope you will take advantage of all of the great programming they offer.
I also hope you will take advantage of this column, which is a perfect way to spread the word about events you’re planning and other news you want to share with Upper Township and Ocean City residents.
Just send an email to me at herald.events@gmail.com or call (973) 271-1088. Please note that this is a new phone number.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
