UPDATE: Police Seek Identity Of Body Found in Rio

RIO GRANDE – The joint police investigation continued Dec. 15 into the death of a female found Dec. 14 in the 100 block Vermont Avenue.
Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Lower and Middle Township police departments continue to conduct a missing person’s investigation of 15-year-old Nicole Angstadt, reported missing by her mother Dec. 1.
As part of that investigation, detectives from County Prosecutor’s and Lower Township Police Department went to 100 Vermont Ave. and discovered the body of a white female.
An autopsy was conducted Dec. 15 in the morning to assist in identication of the female, as well as the manner in which she died.
County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner were working on the investigation.
As of now, no positive identity has been made, according to Taylor.
The deceased was discovered at about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 14.
Into the evening, the Prosecutor’s Office van and many police vehicles were present in the neighborhood while crime scene tape cordoned off the area investigators were searching.
Taylor stated in a release the investigation was continuing and he urged citizens with additional information concerning this investigation to contact the Prosecutor’s Office at 465-1135, or the Middle Township Police Department at 465-8700, or text TIP MTPDTIPS followed by your message, to 888777 or text a tip using the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department TIP 411 app.
