WILDWOOD CREST- On August 11, the Wildwood Crest Police Department received notification from the Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol of a possible body in the water at Lavender Rd. It was determined that the body was a male subject. Members of the Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol and Wildwood Crest Rescue squad retrieved the body from shallow water. The body recovered was identified as Alfred Christian, a 24 year old Miami Florida man. Mr. Christian was reported missing in the water on August 10 in the area of Rio Grande Ave on the beach in Wildwood.
The investigation has been turned over to the Wildwood Police Detective Division and the Cape May County Prosecutors Office.

WILDWOOD — The Coast Guard suspended its search Sunday for a swimmer who went missing off Wildwood Saturday.
Christian Alfred, 24, a Miami native who was attending school in New York City, was reportedly swimming near Rio Grande Avenue when he was witnessed struggling in the water and not resurfacing.
Units involved in the search included:
A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City
A 25-foot boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May
New Jersey State Police
Wildwood Beach Patrol
Good Samaritans
“My deepest sympathy is with the family, and I can’t imagine what they’re going through at this time,” said Lt. Cmdr. Rick Detar, chief of enforcement at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay. “Upon initial notification, we had great coordination with state and local authorities, as well as our Coast Guard resources, to maintain an on-scene presence throughout the night and into the morning. When entering the water, ensure you are in a well-supervised area with the proper personal protective gear.”
