OCEAN CITY – The Southern Regional Medical Examiners Office has made positive identification of Corinthian “Cory” Hammond as being the body recovered on July 3, near the Ocean City-Longport Bridge. The family has taken custody of Cory’s body via a private funeral home.
The Ocean City Police received information that a boater had discovered a body floating in the water just south of the Ocean City-Longport Bridge July 3 at approximately 12:30 p.m.
The Unites States Coast Guard and New Jersey State Marine Police responded to the scene and were able to make recovery of the body.
Hammond was reported missing after a water rescue incident on June 29, 2014 near the 900 block of the beach in Ocean City. During this incident approximately fourteen swimmers were rescued by the Ocean City Fire Department, Lifeguards and Police Department.
