WILDWOOD – A man who attempted to rescue his 15-year-old nephew from a strong current while swimming in Wildwood Aug. 7 has died, NJ.com reports.
Adan Guevara, 29, of Rosedale, Md., died Aug. 9 at Cooper University Hospital located in Camden.
According to a previous release, Guevara was pulled from the water around 7 p.m. Members from the Wildwood Beach Patrol along with two good Samaritans aided in the rescue of Guevara.
Guevara’s nephew and a third person were also pulled from the water, according to NJ.com. Both were treated at a local hospital.
North Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest issued a joint release Aug. 9 urging swimmers to obey beach rules and to never swim without a lifeguard on duty.
“With the recent after-hours rescues and hurricane season quickly approaching, it is more important now than ever that our visitors are aware of our beach rules and regulations, and to only swim when the lifeguards are on duty,” stated North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello in a release.
