MARMORA — As part of Cape May County’s Maintenance Paving Contract, South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, NJ plan to mill and pave sections of Roosevelt Boulevard in the Marmora section of Upper Township next week. South State will be working 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Mon. and Tues. nights, April 18 and 19. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and if not, to use caution when traveling through the construction zone. The work is being performed during the overnight hours to avoid major impact to traffic.
The main section of Roosevelt Boulevard slated to be milled and paved is from the Garden State Parkway southbound ramps to approximately 1,000 feet east of the Parkway northbound ramps. During the construction operations, traffic will be reduced to one (1) lane in each direction. On Mon. night, the left lanes will be closed for construction. Traffic will be directed to use the far side of the right lanes. On Tues. night, the right lanes will be closed for the milling and paving operations and traffic will be using the left lanes. The pavement stripes are scheduled to be installed prior to the opening of all lanes on Wed. morning at 6:00 a.m. All lanes will be open by 6:00 a.m. each day.
The other section of Roosevelt Boulevard to be milled and paved is between Stagecoach Road and US Route 9. This section of roadway will be closed and all traffic will be detoured to Tuckahoe Road during the milling and paving operations. This section of roadway will be opened by 6:00 a.m. each day.
Wed., between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the pavement markings (arrows, “ONLY” and gore hatching) will be installed.
Variable message signs advising motorists of the pending paving work will be in place on Fri., April 14.
This schedule is subject to change and is dependent upon having good weather.
Roosevelt Boulevard is one of the most heavily travelled county roads in Cape May County.
