COURT HOUSE – South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, the contractor on Cape May County’s 2017 Maintenance Paving Contract, plans to mill and pave West Perry Street (CR606) from Broadway to Jackson Street in the Borough of West Cape May and City of Cape May Oct. 30-31. Construction work hours are typically from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Due to the narrowness of the roadway and the nature of the construction, West Perry Street will be closed to through traffic during working hours. All cars will need to be moved off the street for the two days of construction. Eastbound traffic will be detoured down Broadway to Beach Avenue and then onto Jackson Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured on to Myrtle Avenue. South State will accommodate residences and businesses along West Perry Street as best as the construction operations will permit.
West Perry Street will be open each night after construction working hours, however motorists are cautioned that there will be times when there is no centerline striping. Temporary pavement markers will be placed to delineate the centerline. Motorists are advised to avoid the work areas, and if not, to use caution when traveling through the construction zones. Variable message signs advising motorists of the pending paving work will be placed prior to and during the work operations.

The paving of West Perry Street is the last roadway to be paved under the County’s $2,180,000 construction contract awarded to South State, Inc. by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The milling and paving operations are being overseen by Gibson Associates, P.A., Ocean View, NJ.
