WEEK OF AUG. 3 – There’s a long-term detour in place. The ramp at Exit 11 is under construction. Traffic looking to exit onto Stone Harbor Boulevard should follow the detour signs. That detour will be in place until September.

WEEK OF MAY 11 – The Garden State Parkway will be closed May 13 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. for contractors to finish transferring wire and equipment on the six transmission poles, according to the Middle Township Police Department. WEEK OF MAY 4 – Traffic will be detoured off the Garden State Parkway in Middle Township overnight May 4 while crews perform utility work in connection with the ongoing Interchange 9, 10 and 11 project. Also during that time, Stone Harbor Boulevard will be shut down to all traffic between Bayberry Drive and Brighton Road. Southbound traffic will be directed off the Parkway at Interchange 11 (Crest Haven Road). Northbound traffic will be directed off the Parkway at Interchange 9 (Shell Bay Aveune). Variable message signs will direct drivers in both directions onto Route 9 and then back on the Parkway. The detour will be in place from 8 p.m May 4 until 5 a.m. May 5.

WEEK OF APRIL 1 – With the multi-year Garden State Parkway construction project now getting in full gear, it’s time for motorists to get out their GPS units and look for alternative routes. Motorists using the Parkway during the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m from Mon., April 1 through Thur., April 4 will need to have an alternate route in mind. The Parkway will close all lanes of northbound and southbound traffic to allow construction workers access to the highway sans traffic.
According to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, motorists can expect the following lane closures April 1 through April 5:

WEEK OF MARCH 25 – As construction continues on the southernmost end of the Garden State Parkway, motorist will catch a break Fri., March 29 as work shuts down in observance of Good Friday. For the other four days of the week, however, lane closures will occur throughout the day.
According to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the following list notes those lane closures and their times:
March 25 – 28 Southbound Milepost 11.9 to 8.0 Two right lanes 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A spokesman for the NJTA told the Herald this past week’s inclement weather did not have a negative impact on the project.
“The project schedule anticipates some snow, some rain, some very hot days, some very cold days, even the occasional nor’easter. The little bit of bad weather we’ve had during the first few weeks of the project has had no impact on the project’s schedule.”

WEEK OF MARCH 18 – Motorists traveling through Cape May County on the Garden State Parkway will face lane closures the week of March 18 as work crews begin the multi-year project of removing traffic signals at Interchanges 9, 10 and 11.
