COURT HOUSE — Landberg Construction, LLC of Mays Landing, the contractor on Cape May County’s 2017 Miscellaneous Drainage Improvement Contract, will be locating underground utilities, (water, sewer, gas and telephone) on Bayshore Road, County Road No. 603, at the intersection of Old Mill Road in North Cape May Oct. 23.
The work will result in traffic being reduced to one lane beginning at 8 a.m. Lower Township Police Department will provide traffic control while the test pits are being performed. The work is expected to be completed by early afternoon.
The test pits are being performed in advance of planned stormwater drainage improvements planned at this intersection. The test pits will provide information to design the new stormwater drain pipe to avoid conflicts with the underground utilities.
Later in the week, Landberg Construction will return to the intersection to install the new stormwater pipes and structures across Bayshore Road. The construction across Bayshore Road will require one lane of Bayshore Road to be closed and traffic alternated in the remaining open lane using traffic directors. The work is expected to take at least three days to complete. The trench will be restored at the end of each working day and both travel lanes on Bayshore Road will be open during the off-hours. Construction work hours are typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30p.m. Variable message signs advising motorists of the pending work will be placed prior to and during the work operations.
This work is part of the County’s $400,000 construction contract awarded by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders to Landberg Construction, LLC on February 28, 2017. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Cape May County Public Works Department at (609) 465-1035.
