NORTH CAPE MAY – Councilman David Perry updated residents of Lower Township on the progress of the Beach Drive Pedestrian Safety and Road Improvement Project.
The Beach Drive project is designed to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety as well as improve drainage issues, repair current sidewalks, create appropriate handicap crosswalk access, and help limit sand migration onto the roadway.
Perry said the contractor hired to complete the project, Asphalt Paving Systems, is scheduled to complete the final coat of asphalt prior to Memorial Day Weekend. Perry said that the benches along the bay are scheduled to be returned July 1.
Motorists are urged to use caution if travel is necessary along this stretch of roadway. Calls concerning construction issues can be directed to Lower Township Manager Jim Ridgway at Township Hall at (609) 886-2005.
Lower Township Council also reminded the public that they can stay updated on the progress of the project by visiting the township website at www.townshipoflower.org
