By Press Release

VILLAS – For the week beginning May 29 through June 1, the contractor performing work on the Bayshore Road project in Villas will be excavating the southbound lane and shoulder of Bayshore Road from Alabama Avenue to Wilde Avenue.
Initially, this portion of the road will be excavated to a depth of 14”, and a new road bed consisting of 6” of dense, graded aggregate and new base paving will be installed. The excavation work and grading is expected to begin May 29 and last until May 31. On May 31, the contractor will begin the paving operation, which is expected to be completed that day, weather permitting.
Northbound traffic will be maintained without change this week while construction progresses. Beginning Tuesday morning, May 29, traffic heading southbound on Bayshore Road will be detoured at Fulling Mill Road to Woolson Road to Wilde Avenue back to Bayshore Road. Local traffic heading south will be permitted to travel up to Alabama Avenue heading south on Bayshore Road but not further. Local traffic on the west side of Bayshore Road from Weber Avenue to Wilde Avenue will be detoured to Main Street, to Yuma Avenue, to Wilde Avenue, then back to Bayshore Road.
Residents whose homes front along the west side of Bayshore Road from Wilde Avenue to Alabama Avenue will have access to their residences, however, if possible, it is encouraged that they store their vehicles out of the construction zone for their own convenience. Residents with specific access needs can coordinate with the contractor or county regarding those accommodations.
Once the paving operation is completed May 31, the southbound lane of Bayshore Road will be re-opened to traffic.
Motorists are urged to use caution when driving through the construction zone for their safety and for the safety of the workers.
