CREST HAVEN—The Cape May County Technical School District Board of Education met on Oct. 16. The board covered a variety of issues, ranging from revenue and expenses to curriculum and upcoming field trips. Principal Michael Adams praised the Career Tech Model, affirming the variety of programs that the school offers.
“We provide programs that benefit the kids in the county,” Adams explained. “We are very proud of the kids in our school. The kids respect each other, and the program.” According to Adams, the programs offer “a different way to integrate work place skills with academic skills.”
A long time resident of Cape May County, Adams holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Rowan University. He commenced his educational career as an English teacher prior to his various positions in Educational Administration. A committed educator, Adams seeks ways to “enhance the programs making school community connections,” Adams explained that the educational objectives were” to steer kids towards the right opportunities.” These educational goals make it indeed possible for students to receive the greatest educational experience available. The ultimate educational objective is to provide, “a world class education for every kid in Cape May County.
A rich variety of field trips are planned for the academic year as well. Commencing in mid-October and extending into June, the students will experience a field trip commensurate with their various fields of study. Some of these exciting and educationally rewarding trips include one to the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. This unique Art Museum holds the largest exhibit of French Impressionistic Art in America.
Some other diverse and unique field trips include a trip for juniors and seniors to the Cape May County Court House with a focus on the Administration of Justice. A field trip for the Travel and Tourist students includes a trip to The Grande of Cape May and focuses on event planning.
Other educationally enlightening and rewarding field trips include: The National Academy event planning trip to the Wildwood Convention Center as well as a trip to Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township for various grade levels. Additional field trips include a trip to the Atlantic City Convention Center for the New Jersey Governor’s Conference, and a trip to the Cape May Convention Center for the Garden Club of Cape May Flower Show in the spring.
These diverse and rewarding field trips are part of the educational curriculum of the school. “These trips are valuable—it’s how you develop the whole child,” Mr. Adams confirmed.
Recently, the Cape May County Technical School held its successful “Back to School Night.” Board President Robert L. Boyd attended “Back To School Night” and he lavished praise for the school’s commitment to excellence in education. “I’m impressed beyond belief for the enthusiasm of the teaching,” he remarked.
“Every classroom we went into we were exposed to great teaching. It was a great night!” The board affirmed the Cape May County Technical School’s commitment to quality education and rewarding educational experiences.
