STONE HARBOR MANOR — South Jersey Gas will conduct a gas safety exercise Oct. 22 at the 96th Street Bridge linking Stone Harbor at 96th Street and Sunset Drive in Middle Township.
According to a release, the exercise will run from approximately 10 a.m. to noon.
During this exercise, South Jersey Gas will simulate a natural gas leak caused by dredging of the back bay at the utility’s water crossing. No natural gas will be released and no excavation will occur, this is only a simulation.
The exercise is part of an emergency preparedness program to test and enhance the utility’s natural gas leak response procedures.
Local fire, police, and emergency medical services will also respond to the scene to simulate an actual response to an emergency.
