SOMERS POINT- “The Shore Starts Here!” It’s the message behind a new Somers Point logo and accompanying tagline that was officially unveiled Wednesday, August 14 by the City of Somers Point Economic Development Advisory Commission (EDAC).
“We are excited to have this branding initiative in place,” said Somers Point Mayor Jack Glasser. “The new logo and tagline are vital tools that will assist our city in gaining recognition for our wonderful bayside community. We are open for business and pleasure and welcome people to enjoy Somers Point and see for themselves that ‘the shore starts here!’”
The new logo and tagline will serve as an immediately recognizable identifier for the community – a valuable tool and an asset for tourism, businesses and residential properties.
The logo’s iconic graphic is intentionally blue, yellow and green, representing the colors of the sea, bay, sand and land that characterize this quaint, historic bayside town. The tagline appropriately describes the community’s prime location as the ideal starting point for making indelible memories at the Jersey shore.
“In conceptualizing this logo, we wanted to create a simple yet striking and instantly recognizable look that would be – once integrated in city signage, letterhead and other promotional means – instantly equated to our town,” said EDAC Chairman Michael Bray. “We believe this new logo will achieve just that. It will also unify Somers Point under one brand that tells the story of our community as a whole.”
According to EDAC Vice-Chairman Ron Meischker, “The tagline is a perfect complement to the logo. It lets visitors, homebuyers and business owners know that whether they’re looking to live, work or play at the shore, Somers Point is the ideal place to start.”
Suasion Communications Group of Somers Point partnered with the EDAC to design the logo.
Brand and logo rollout plans include a clear “wayfinding” signage system, directing travelers to Somers Point destinations; updates to the city website, incorporating the logo and telling the brand development story; encouraging stakeholders to integrate the logo into their e-mail signatures and Facebook pages; and merchandizing via shirts, hats, key chains and more.
The goal of the EDAC is to market the economic strength of the city, to provide stability to existing businesses while encouraging future development. It was formed to advise City Council on the condition of economic development in Somers Point. Commission members for this year include Chairman Michael Bray, Vice-Chairman Ron Meischker, Lou DeScioli, Scott Rosen, Bob Shore, Laurie Smith and Arthur T. Ford III.
The Somers Point Business Association since 1983 has promoted, protected and supported a strong business environment in the city.
