RIO GRANDE—Can’t wait to see a doctor? A new after hours, non-emergency healthcare facility is now open in the Rio Grande Shop Rite. The CompleteCare Health Network held its grand opening of RiteCare on Oct. 11. The health care center operates after regular working hours on Monday-Friday from 5–9:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30–4:30 p.m.
“Rite Care is convenient with accessible hours,” said Emily Paul, CompleteCare’s director of public relations and development. “There is no need to wait for the doctor’s office to open anymore. We see everyone who comes in, regardless of whether or not they have insurance.” Paul also explained that Rite Care is less expensive than going to an urgent care facility. In fact, they offer “20-50 percent off of prescription drugs.” Though RiteCare is not a drug dispensary, the CompleteCare Health Network has partnered with several local pharmacies.
“This is the third center we’ve opened in Cape May County,” said Gil Walter, president and CEO of CompleteCare Health Network. The other centers are in Court House and Wildwood. “We work with all the area hospitals and offer high quality care. Everyone that works here, doctors and nurses, are highly credentialed. We only pick the best people. They want to be involved in taking care of the public.”
Touted as a walk-in treatment center for common illnesses and injuries for patients of all ages, RiteCare can help with “a simple infection, cough or cold, fever, sore throat, ear ache, a rash … basically anything that is not chronic,” said Jessica Adamson, a nurse practitioner. “We do evaluations of minor cuts and bruises as well. But we don’t offer x-rays.”
Being limited in advanced services allows for more focused attention on common illnesses and health issues. “And we can always refer anyone who has something more serious to a specialist,” added Paul.
Curtis Edwards, CompleteCare’s executive vice president for corporate compliance, facilities, community and government relations joked that his “long title comes with lots of responsibilities.” Among his responsibilities, one of the biggest is to ensure that each CompleteCare facility is “up to code.” Edwards, proud of the new Rio Grande RiteCare told a story of how he “woke up last Sunday to discover my daughter was sick.” Knowing full well that there were several CompleteCare centers open, Edwards was glad for his family and the community.
“One thing we want to concentrate on is speed,” Edwards said. “If you come to our site, we’re gonna get you in quickly.”
Deputy Mayor Timothy Donohue was also present for the grand opening. Donohue read a proclamation of congratulations from Mayor Daniel Lockwood and added, “No doubt there is a need for this facility, especially here in the southern area of Middle Township.”
