Raising money for homeless animals

By On Deck Staff

Jeff Sherman, co-owner of Henry’s Jewelry store on the Ocean City boardwalk, allowed local musician Bill Davis, to perform in front of his store on Ocean City Family Fun nights this past summer, to raise money for the Humane Society of Ocean City.
Davis, a guitarist and singer, raised over $1,200 in tips over the summer.
Davis and Sherman have asked that the money raised go toward “Paw Safari,” the Humane Society’s proposed outdoor, dog play area. The pair was motivated by the shelter’s no-kill mission and wanted to do something to benefit the community.
The Humane Society of Ocean City’s Executive Director, Bill Hollingsworth said, “we are so grateful for the money raised. It brings us that much closer to our goal and will allow us to start construction on Paw Safari.”
Henry’s Jewelry store is located on the 1200 block of the boardwalk in Ocean City.
The Humane Society of Ocean City is a private, non-profit (501c) organization located in Ocean City that has been proudly serving the city and surrounding communities since 1964.
HSOC operates a “no-kill” shelter and in September 2002 opened a new building for spay/neutering and humane educational services.
