RIO GRANDE — The official website for the campaign of Mike Voll, who is running as an Independent for a seat on Middle Township committee, launched Aug. 27 at www.mikevoll.com according to a release.
The site details Voll’s ideas and initiatives aimed at making the township a better place to live. It also asks residents to share their own ideas.
“I’m very proud of this website, and I believe it will provide Middle Township residents with plenty of information that will help them make a responsible choice in the November 2nd election,” Voll said. “More importantly, this is a ‘community’ website where residents can offer valuable opinions, suggestions, and even criticism about the township’s day-to-day operations.”
According to the release, one important feature on the site’s home page is an interactive “Mike Voll Poll,” soliciting comments about community issues such as services, tax rate, public safety and the size of township committee. Residents can submit comments anonymously or for attribution.
All poll results will be presented to the Middle Township Committee after the election.
“Win or lose, I will be sure to offer a complete report of the poll to the township committee after the election,” Voll said. “Elected officials should embrace any form of a community survey so they can serve the people who voted them to office in the most responsive way.”
Voll continued this week to speak with residents about the significance of his independent status in this year’s election, the release stated.
“Middle Township affairs should never be about a political party or someone’s personal agenda”, Voll said. “Elected officials in Middle Township and the rest of New Jersey will be facing some very difficult financial decisions in 2011, and the people in a community need to come first. It is our responsibility as elected officials to continue making Middle Township a great place to live and work, while meeting our residents’ needs on a daily basis.”
The www.mikevoll.com website also includes policy statements on Voll’s key issues, including: the need to evaluate all non-essential municipal positions; consolidation, regionalization, and shared services; utilize talented department heads; increasing revenue streams to reduce property taxes; and provide municipal services equally to all areas of Middle Township, the release stated.
Voll served on Middle Township’s Committee for 18 years, including service as Mayor of the community from 1983 to 1998. He was named “1994 Mayor of the Year” by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.
He lives in Rio Grande with his wife Susie, and has four children and seven grandchildren.
