COURT HOUSE – Late poll figures from Cumberland County kept results of the First District senate and assembly races from being known until late in the evening.
Incumbent Democrat Jeff Van Drew kept his senate seat:
Van Drew 24,298
DeWeese 20,726
First District Democratic assemblymen Matt Milam and Nelson Albano also kept their seats when all Cumberland County votes were tallied.
Albano 24,547
Milam 21,978
Fiocch 21,004
Walters 20,669
For Assembly, Republicans carried Cape May County, with Stone Harbor Mayor Suzanne Walters leading the four-way race with 12,544, and running mate Samuel Fiocchi, 12,400. Incumbent Democrats Nelson Albano received, 12,220 and Matthew Milam 10,987. They, too, will await the Cumberland County results.
Middle Township Committee’s new member will be Republican Timothy Donohue, who received 1,953 votes. Democrat William E. Sturm III tallied 1,596. Independent Steven Russell got 796 votes. Thus, Democrats lost control of the governing body, and it is likely Committeeman Daniel Lockwood will become the next mayor when reorganization is held Jan. 1.
In Dennis Township, Republicans Brian Teefy, with 962 and Frank L. Germanio Jr., with 1,011 topped Democrat incumbents Dennis Crippen with 855 and Brian O’Connor with 882.
