COURT HOUSE – Republican challengers Jerry Thornton and Sue Sheppard turned in petitions to run for freeholder on Monday, April 12.
Thornton told the Herald in a phone interview about 70-80 supporters turned out to watch as they filed their petitions. “I was shocked at the turnout, Thornton said, I was expecting a small amount about maybe 10 or so but I was really taken back by the amount of people who showed, and not just Republicans there were Democrats and Undetermined who showed up and said we’re voting for you, we were so thankful for the support.”
Thornton and Sheppard are challenging Republican Party picks John McCann and Ralph Bakley in the June 8, primary.
