STONE HARBOR – Stone Harbor presented the only contested primary election in the county June 6 and it may not be over yet.
The unofficial results have newcomer Tim Carney with a healthy lead over incumbents Robin Casper and Reese Moore. The uncertainty is in the race between Casper and Moore.
With two seats open on Borough Council, Carney, a member of the borough’s Zoning Board of Adjustments, received 212 votes out of a total of 438 cast. He will claim one of the two seats barring a November surprise.
Casper, with 110 votes, and Moore, with 109, are in an almost dead heat in the unofficial results. There are still opportunities for some provisional and mail-in votes to influence the outcome before the vote is certified.
In November 2022, then-incumbent Charles Krafczek lost his seat on the council to an independent campaign orchestrated by new Council member Victor Foschini. Krafczek had run unopposed in the 2022 Republican primary.
Of late, being an incumbent in the borough does not guarantee a safe harbor at election time.
