LOWER TOWNSHIP – The campaign of Lower Township Republican Mayoral candidate Erik Simonsen and Deputy Mayor candidate Frank Sippel continued to build support over the last several weeks as they hit the streets to speak with Township residents. On Saturday, Simonsen and Sippel were joined by Freeholder Director Jerry Thornton, Freeholder Marie Hayes and close to two dozen volunteers as they campaigned door-to-door.
“We are humbled by the number of volunteers who share our same vision of moving Lower Township forward as our team aims to build upon the successes of Dave, Tom and Erik – the support is overwhelming. As we canvass neighborhoods and speak to the young, old and everyone in between, it is abundantly clear that people are satisfied with the direction our town is heading and I am honored to help build upon that direction,” said Sippel.
“This early campaign experience has been very gratifying not only because of the extraordinary people volunteering their time, but because it is evident that the people we visit are acutely aware of the progress being made in Lower Township. We offered an agenda that was transparent and put the interests of the people first, and Dave, Tom and I have stayed true to our promises and things are getting accomplished. I am certain that with Frank a part of the team, things will only continue to improve,” said Simonsen.
This past year as Ward 3 Councilman, Erik has helped lead Council in maintaining a zero percent tax increase while tackling important projects such as the drainage issues that existed in North Cape May for decades, bringing County-wide dispatch to Lower Township, entering a shared-services agreement with the County that will save Lower Township millions of dollars, entering a shared services agreement with the MUA that brought revenue into the Township for services provided to the MUA, increasing the number of police officers to our streets, adding a code enforcement official and improving recreational facilities.
