UPPER TOWNSHIP – Upper Township Mayor Rich Palombo and Deputy Mayor Ed Barr have won the unanimous endorsements of the Upper Township Republican County Committee and the Upper Township Republican Organization.
Palombo and Barr spoke about their qualifications and desire to serve before Upper Township Republican County Committee members during a meeting held March 4.
The Upper Township County Committee is comprised of two elected representatives from each of the township’s 15 voting districts.
Palombo is currently serving his sixth three-year term, the last 16 years as mayor.
“I am running to continue my efforts in maintaining Upper Township as one the best places to live and raise a family. It is a privilege to serve our residents as Mayor on the Township Committee,” stated Palombo.
Palombo is a pharmacist and currently serves as a Senior Director of Pharmacy Regulatory Affairs for Express Scripts. He is also a current member of the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy, serving as the vice president.
Barr is serving his first three-year term after finishing out the unexpired term of Kristine Gabor, who was elected to the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
“As deputy mayor and director of public works, I am committed to serving the citizens and visitors of Upper Township with the highest level of services we can provide economically. I am dedicated to working with my fellow committee members in maintaining the quality of life we value so much in this community,” explained Barr.
Barr is an outside sales representative for ABC Supply Company. He is a retired Law Enforcement Officer having served over twenty-five years with the Hamilton Township Police Department.
Following presentations from each of the candidates, who were the only ones to submit their names for consideration, and a question-and-answer session, the groups gave the incumbents their endorsements.
Palombo and Barr will appear on the June 2 primary election ballot on the line with other Republican candidates.
