Municipal Elections Return Incumbents

COURT HOUSE – Unofficial election results for the May 14 municipal elections in Avalon and Sea Isle City were posted on the Cape May County Clerk’s website.
Avalon
In Avalon where, 1,167 were registered to vote, slightly over 24 percent cast ballots.
Mayor Martin Pagliughi sought reelection without a challenger. He received a total of 319 votes, and will return for another four-year term.
Three candidates sought two, four-year seats on the borough council. The two who ran with Pagliughi, Barbara Juzaitis, with 262 votes, and Samuel Wierman, with 269 votes, won the seats. James Lutz, with 117 votes, was unsuccessful in his bid for a place on the council.
Sea Isle City
In Sea Isle City, where 1,846 voters were registered, under 20 percent cast a ballot.
Mayor Leonard Desiderio was returned to another four-year term with 450 votes. There was no challenger to Desiderio.
Two council-at-large seats were open, with four-year terms. They were secured in unchallenged races by William Kehner Sr. with 415 votes, and Frank Edwardi Jr. with 390 votes.
