COURT HOUSE – Tim Donohue earned the Republican endorsement for Middle Township Committee when committee members voted Tue., April 5 after hearing from candidates at their monthly meeting.
A release stated that Donohue, of Court House, and Edgewood resident Mark Collins, vied for the endorse-ment.
Both “praised the ‘fair, open and transparent process’ and pledged to work together to bring leaner, cleaner, more open and responsive government to Middle Township,” stated Republican leader Ed Taylor.
“I’m excited to join forces with Tim Donohue,” said Middle Township Committeeman Dan Lockwood, who in 2009 defeated incumbent Democrat Steve Barry to become the first Republican on the ruling body in recent memory. “Tim brings a lifetime of real world management experience, an honest, no-nonsense approach and innovative ideas to the table.”
“Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican or Independent, we must all agree that “business as usual” just won’t cut it anymore.” Donohue stated. “We need to believe in better and start rethinking government from the ground up. Here in Middle Township, despite Committeeman Lockwood’s best efforts, we see a proposed budget that cuts services, while increasing administrative fees and raising our property taxes by 7.4 percent. Do we really need more proof that the system is broken? The simple truth is, the ruling party has been entrenched for too long.”
In the coming weeks, Donohue plans to propose a comprehensive plan for real reform.
“There will be tough decisions to make that will require uncompromising integrity, long range thinking and inspired leadership.” Donohue stated. “We must start now. No more year-to-year, stop-gap, smoke-and-mirrors accounting. No more robbing Peter to pay Paul. No more kicking the can down the road to our children and our grandchildren. Voters are tired of slogans, platitudes and half-measures. They want real change and we are here to give it to them.”
(ED. NOTE: To date, no releases have been received regarding the Middle Township Democrat candidate. They will receive equal treatment when received.)
