Lower Township & Cape May County: A Positive Direction

By Sponsored

Over the last couple of years, countless Lower Township residents have shared with us their appreciation for the projects being completed, the removal of politics from town hall and the overall positive direction that we are moving Lower Township in. We, as well as all of our Township employees, have worked very hard to move Lower Township in a positive direction and accomplish all that we have over the past two years. However, the involvement and hard work does not stop in Lower Township. The County Board of Chosen Freeholders should also be recognized and commended for their part in moving Lower Township forward. The Freeholders have been an excellent partner in helping our Township advance economic opportunity, improve public safety, fix county roads, provide services to our seniors, increase recreational opportunities and help us operate a more efficient government in Lower Township. More specifically, the county partnered with the Township and our residents by:
– Breaking ground with new business opportunities at the Cape May County Airport
– Entering into a shared services agreement for county-wide dispatch services that will save Lower Township and county residents millions of dollars
– Advancing economic initiatives and assisting the oyster, brewery and wine production industries
– Administering a low-interest revolving fishing loan program that arranges loans for commercial fisherman – with Lower Township being the second largest fishing port on the East Coast, this is an excellent benefit to our commercial fishing industry
– Developing and connecting the county bike path with neighboring municipalities
– Helping preserve Township historical landmarks such as the Foster House
– Funding playground upgrades for our children through the Open Space Program
– Improving county roadways in the North Cape May section of Lower Township; and
– Providing services to our seniors through the Lower Township Senior Center, Fare Free Transportation and Meals on Wheels.
Many of our residents have been or will be benefited by these wide-ranging projects that we have partnered in with the county. From taking care of our elderly and home-bound residents with the Meals on Wheels program, to providing playground upgrades for our children, to bringing new and innovative career opportunities to our Township, these opportunities provide real benefits to the daily lives of our residents. What’s more is, the county continues to accomplish so much while maintaining one of the lowest tax rates in the entire state. This speaks volumes about the efficient and effective operation of our county government. We again would like to thank the Freeholders for partnering with our community in ways that help move Lower Township in a positive direction, and encourage all of our residents to re-elect Jerry Thornton and Marie Hayes to the Board of Chosen Freeholders so that we can continue this progress.
Very truly yours,
Ward One Councilman Tom Conrad
Ward Two Councilman Dave Perry
Ward Three Councilman Erik Simonsen
