Lower GOP Seeks Names to Fill Council Vacancy

By Press Release

VILLAS – The Lower Township GOP will hold an open process to fill the coming vacancy on Lower Township Council. The Ward 3 Council seat will be vacated on Jan. 4, 2017, after Ward 3 Councilman Erik Simonsen takes office as the next mayor of Lower Township.
“The Lower Township GOP is committed to a fair and open process to fill the vacancy, and provide equal opportunity to all members of the party to seek the nomination,” said GOP Leader Jeff Lindsay.
He continued, “Our goal is to identify the best Republican candidates in Ward 3, and recommend a candidate who will diligently represent the residents of Ward 3 and work well with the team that is presently on Council.”
Accordingly, the Lower Township GOP will receive letters of intent for the Ward 3 Council seat until Jan. 6, 2017.  Letters should be submitted to Leader Jeff Lindsay via regular or electronic mail.
A special meeting of duly-elected GOP Committee members will be held Jan. 9, 2017, at which time voting members will have an opportunity to hear from the candidates who submitted a letter of intent before casting a vote.
