Fire Elections Feb. 21 Ready in Townships

CORRECTION: Fire district elections in all townships will be Feb. 21 from 2 to 9 p.m. An incorrect date is listed in the editorial illustration on page A36 of the Feb. 18 edition of the Herald.
COURT HOUSE – Voters in Dennis, Lower, Middle and Upper townships have an election on the agenda Feb. 21 from 2 to 9 p.m. at their local firehouses. They will be casting ballots for fire commissioners and to approve budgets in their respective fire districts.
According to Cape May County Clerk Rita Fulginiti, her office and the Board of Elections support the 14 fire districts which will be holding annual elections.
The board will be available to the districts Feb. 21 starting at 1 p.m. until the polls close at 9 p.m.
At the close of the polls, the Board of Elections will tally mail-in ballots and provide the totals to districts.
Results will be posted to the Cape May County Votes website, www.capemaycountyvotes.com under the 2015 Election Results on Feb. 23.
Dennis Township
District 1: Ocean View Vol. Fire Co., 2545 Route 9, Ocean View: Vote for one, three-year term: David McMichael, Donna Raffa. Budget: $350,000 to be raised by taxes.
District 2: Dennis Vol. Fire Co., 721 Petersburg Road, Dennisville: Vote for one, three-year term: Michael Gihorski. Budget: $265,841 to be raised by taxes.
District 3: Belleplain Vol. Fire Co., 106 Handsmill Road, Belleplain: Vote for two: full term, Tami Kern, Corey Shaffer. Unexpired two-year term, vote for one: Frank Germanio Jr. Budget: $164,284 to be raised by taxes.
Lower Township
District 1: Villas Vol. Fire Co., 1619 Bayshore Road, Villas: Vote for one, three-year term: Carrise Mornick, Dale Gentek. Budget: $691,637 with $561,637 to be raised by taxes.
District 2: Town Bank Vol. Fire Co., 2242 Townbank Road, North Cape May: Vote for two, three-year term: Lewis H. Conley Jr., Robert Nolan. Budget: $1,093,950 with $918,590 to be raised by taxes.
District 3: Erma Vol. Fire Co., 415 Breakwater Road, Erma: Vote for two, three-year term: Gary Douglass Sr., Dennis Robertson Sr. Budget: $1,108,500 with $741,144 to be raised by taxes. Question: May the Board of Commissioners use $246,250 to be appropriated from the Restricted Fund, previously funded by taxpayers, associated with the acquisition of fire apparatus and various capital improvements to the fire station in the 2015 budget? Yes, No.
Middle Township
District 1: Cape May Court House Vol. Fire Co., 112B Hand Ave., Court House: Vote for two, three-year term: Keith P. Arenberg, Joseph J. Trombetta. Budget: $1,216,634.49 to be raised by taxes.
District 2: Rio Grande Vol. Fire Co., 1120 Route 47 South, Rio Grande: Vote for one, three-year term: Kirby Stiltner. Budget: $536,800 to be raised by taxes.
District 3: Green Creek Vol. Fire Co., 14 Bayshore Road, Green Creek: Vote for two, three-year term: James M. Ernst, William J. Mulligan. Budget $459,235 to be raised by taxes.
District 4: Goshen Vol. Fire Co., 331 Route 47 North, Goshen. Vote for two, three-year term: Robert K. Goodheart III, Thomas C. Campbell, Joseph F. Eagan IV. Budget: $158,558 to be raised by taxes.
Upper Township
District 1: Strathmere Vol. Fire Co., 5 S. Commonwealth Ave., Strathmere. Vote for two, three-year term: Steve Nickelsberg, Donna Diefenderfer. Budget: $79,045 to be raised by taxes.
District 2: Tuckahoe Vol. Fire Co., 2170 Route 50, Tuckahoe: Vote for two, three-year term: W. Scott Mauger, Robert J. Young. Budget: $456,384 to be raised by taxes. Capital appropriation for capital expenses over the next five budget years. Amount to be raised is $125,000 for use by the fire company.
District 3: Marmora Vol. Fire Co., 40 Old Tuckahoe Road, Marmora. Vote for two, three-year term: Jeffery McAfee, Kurt F. Austin. Budget: $534,551 to be raised by taxes.
District 4: Seaville Vol. Fire Co., Vote for two, three-year term: Rob Hiddemen, Charles Webb. Budget: $527,858 to be raised by taxes.
